Mini Blessings to One and All!

MINI BLESSINGS MOVING FORWARD IN 2011

As Mini Blessings begins its second year as a non-profit organization doing business in Chaffee County, we are looking forward to further expanding our mission of providing equine assisted activities and equine assisted therapy to the Central Colorado region, and more particularly to the folks here in BV. Our miniature horses, a mobile herd of four, are always eager and ready to go to work.

During our first year the minis visited the elementary schools, were present at a Summer Library Program, and paid visits to the nursing homes in Salida and Leadville. Many people came to visit our on-site facility during which the children had a chance to lead and brush the horses in a supervised environment. We were blessed to have two special needs children work with our mare, Little Bits, together with a physical therapist and the results were miraculous. Throughout the year, we have continued to train the horses to better interact with the children and volunteers
who participate in our programs. Our Parelli lessons on Natural Horsemanship have been invaluable in better understanding equine behavior.

It has been an inspiration and a joy for us to have witnessed these magical interactions between people of all ages and our precious minis. So much so that we want to move forward and to expand our outreach to the community by helping other non-profit groups in their efforts to better the community. We also want to provide more home visits to the elderly and to those who are homebound. It is our hope that we can do more with the schools and the Boys and Girls Club, perhaps by introducing some literacy programs that use miniature horses. Our desire is to increase public awareness of the healing power and the therapeutic value of these beautiful animals. Our long term goal is to become a NARHA Center where we will primarily do un-mounted activities and carriage driving for special needs children with a physical therapist and a certified instructor.

We wish to extend an open invitation to anyone who would like to come and visit our facility and to meet the minis. We are always in need of outside help. Mini walkers would truly be a blessing and getting the word out about this special herd and all they can do would be awesome. Our goals are many and our dreams will never end until we can fully share the love of the minis with others. Please keep us in mind and let us know when we can be of service and can make someone happy. We are always ready to help out with fund raisers, birthday parties, celebrations, the ideas are endless.
